Open call for emerging writers

Story that Speaks is a three-day in-person nonfiction writing workshop in Lagos, facilitated by Obodo’s International Artist in Residence, writer and MFA instructor, Richie Wills, crafted for emerging writers eager to explore the art of storytelling rooted in real-life experiences. Over these sessions, we’ll dive deep into some tools and techniques of nonfiction, from developing voice and narrative structure to weaving personal narratives with broader cultural themes, carrying out research to inform your work, reporting, and more.

About Obodo

Obodo is a youth-led non-profit organization that seeks to further the normalization and mainstreaming of authentic queer identities and stories in Nigeria through art and culture, technology, and advocacy.
